Civilization III
Zeb's Planet Earth Map Files

Welcome to my maps of Earth! I believe these maps are more enjoyable than the maps that
came with the game. I am positive you will feel the same way.

There are now two maps to play! The huge map is 180 x 180 squares and offers more
terrain detail. The standard map is 100 x 100 squares and is much better for
playing faster games.

These maps are loosely based on the Robinson Projection. I've taken some liberty to
try to enhance gameplay. For instance, Europe is larger than it should be. I do believe
that Ocean size is important ... so I've done my best to not reduce the size of the
oceans.

You can change and modify the map to your liking; however, if you use this map
for purposes other than your personal gaming experience, please give me credit
for being it's orginal creator. AUTHOR: Zeb Fisher (zeb_fisher@yahoo.com).

And, hey ... if you come up with some cool modifications I want to play them too!

Enjoy!

P.S. I like to hear feedback on the maps, so send me some!

TO USE:

Place maps in the "Scenerios" folder of your Civilization III directory.
	The directory is most likely:
	C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Scenarios

GENERAL NOTES:

Islands must be two squares otherwise doing an amphibious assualt becomes
	impossible.

I've done my best to ensure that strategic resources are in appropriate
	and historical locations.

Strategic resources are not evenly distributed. This is to promote war and
trade between civs. If everyone had access to everything, it wouldn't be fun!

Different areas of the map have different semi-monopolies on luxury resources.
For example, southeast asia has spices .. Africa ivory and gems.

If you build the Great Lighthouse, you will be able to explore more continents.

I've done my best to include most of the major rivers without making the map
	too easy.

Some terrain types were used purely for artistic look. For example, plains
terrain will generally draw a better coast line than grassland.

In general there are 16 or more strategic resources and less than 16 luxury
	resources.

The best way to make a map is to use the longitude and latitude lines of a
real map. For instance, a huge map is 180 x 180. The map I have has 18 longitude
lines across it. So I can determine that each breadth created by the lines
is ten joining squares of the map (or five diagonal squares).

I didn't like the way resources weren't being traded or being causes for strategic
decision making. Below is a transcript of the Soren Johnson chat:
[Congestion] Is there a set ratio between resources, i.e. gold is more
common than oil and so on, or is that totally random?
[Soren_Johnson_Firaxis] Congestion: there is a ratio for resources and luxuries
which is set by the number of players in the game. There
is always at least one resource per civ and there is never
more than one luxury per civ. The "commodity" resources
(wheat, gold, etc...) basically just fill up the rest of the
					map.

		- Fixed Indus river in India to show more of a flood plain
		- Adjusted resource counts as below:

			-HORSES 16
